Creating a "Me Book" for students with Autism and other Special Needs using the Boardmaker Software Family

Go HERE and watch it now!! 45 minutes long.

Training Type: Boardmaker Software Family

Description: Who am I? This is a question that most people ask themselves. For students with special needs, answering this question enhances their self-esteem and helps them understand that their special need is not the only thing that defines them. One way to do this is to bring the different parts of their life together in the concrete form of a Me book. This book can be used for many purposes. It can be a self-defining and self-discovery activity, a social story of how to talk about themselves and answer questions, and/ or a book that can shared with others to facilitate relationships. No matter how it is used, or where it is used, it will help to boost their self-esteem as they will have a physical reminder that can identify their strengths and accomplishments while explaining their challenges. Using Boardmaker Software Family as the authoring tool, this class will demonstrate how to create a print and interactive Me book while proving ideas and strategies to individualize it for your students. Participants will take away from this class the skills to create a Me book that will help their students understand and express who they are in an individualized concrete way.
